Sustainability & Responsibility

sustainability & responsibility at stray funk design

Sustainable fashion is the future! That's why Stray Funk Design is taking steps to make sure we're part of the movement. We only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's state-of-the-art printing tech creates almost no waste-waters and uses less energy.

Each product you see in our catalogue is made on-demand once you place an order, we produce it specifically for you. This allows us to avoid overproduction and textile waste, and we pride ourselves on being part of the sustainable fashion movement.

Our clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method. The printing tech we use is made with sustainability in mind, and our DTG printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy, lowering our carbon footprint.

The inks we use for printing are water-based and free of harmful chemicals. We take care to dispose of any left-over ink according to the ink supplier guidelines, so we’re not harming the environment.

Each product you see in our catalogue is made to order, which means once you place the order, we start working to get it to you. It takes time for us to create and send out the product, but making each order on-demand allows us to avoid overproduction. This way we're all part of the sustainable fashion movement.

But that's not all, for every order we plant 1 tree through our partners at Ecologi and the Eden Reforestation Project. This offsets our carbon footprint from shipping. You can check out how we are doing at https://ecologi.com/strayfunkdesign

Eco inks
Water based inks offer an alternative to PVC inks that doesn't contain all the toxic chemicals of its plastisol counterparts. Instead it’s comprised of naturally occurring substances. No harmful solvents are required for clean up which reduces toxic waste.

Neo-Pigment inks (water-based) are 100% non-hazardous, toxin-free and completely vegan friendly. They meet the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications for infant wear, Global Organic Textiles (GTOTS-3V), Residues Standard List (RSL) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.

Eco solvent inks come from ether extracts taken from refined mineral oil. While they still contain harmful solvents, they have a lower VOC content than normal solvent inks and are significantly less hazardous. We have minimised the use of solvent inks throughout our supply chain and ensure eco solvent inks are used when necessary.
